Tech in K-12 Education

I am not very tech savy. For all of elementary school and middle school the only time I got to use a computer was when I went to the computer lab to work on a paper in Word with one exception. In elementary school I was trained how to type by following and mimicking what the computer told me to do. Long story short i still don't know how to type properly. I use the two finger dance to type. My experience with computers changed when I went to high school. My high school had the same type of computer lab that my other schools had but with computers that were more up to date but still not up to date with what my dad used at his office. He worked at a company that sold speech software. Pretty much it allows computers to type what you say. So i was a tad disappointed with my schools resources. Besides the lab we had two mobile laptop stations that teachers could bring to class if they reserved them in advance. They were never charged, constantly needed software updated and were missing keys. the most advanced peace of tech i ever saw on school grounds was the laptops kids brought from home but were often not allowed to use for some reason. The most advanced peace of tech the school had was a smart board that my history teach got when he was named teacher of the year for the state of New Hampshire and it only worked half the time. And the other half it would take 5 minutes to start up.

What brought me to SNHU was the SNHU advantage program in my home town of Salem, NH. My dad agreed to pay for the first 4 years of college as long as he paid for it and since the advantage program would get me my associates degree in liberal arts in 2 years and then would let me transfer to the main campus. plus it was down the street from my dads office. I had a great 2 years and wouldn't have traded it for anything.
